What is the Hillside membership process?
To become a “member” of Hillside, there isn’t a process. To be a part of our community at Hillside, all you need to do is come. We will do our best to serve you, teach, share with you, love you, and allow you to serve no matter where you are in your spiritual journey.
Upon coming on a regular basis to Hillside, there is a “covenant” that you may sign with us committing yourself to God and to the community of Hillside for one year of serving others in some fashion. Once a year in the Spring, we as an entire community of faith renew our covenant to each other and to God.
Where do you meet?
We currently meet on Sunday mornings at 9:30 and 11AM at the corner of 23rd and Greenup Ave. in Ashland.
Please park in front of building, on the street, or to the right side of building. Not the left side.
What do I wear at a worship Gathering?
We are still amazed that this is a FAQ. Whatever you feel comfortable wearing. Most are dressed casually.
What is your Doctrine?
The absolute best way to understand and learn about any community is to experience it on the relational level. Statements of faith can tell you what a community of faith’s beliefs are, but they can’t tell you who they are. If you would like to discover who we are at Hillside, please come to one of our worship Gatherings on Sunday.
If the actual statements of faith are what you are still interested in, please reference the Baptist Faith and Message by going to this website: http://www.sbc.net/bfm/bfm2000.asp
Is Hillside a non-denominational church?
Hillside is not non-denominational. We recognize that people come from various denominational backgrounds, and our purpose as a community is not to do away with nor give praise to denominational authority, but to proclaim the truths of Jesus to all people. Again, the best way to understand any community of faith is on a relational level. Because of our diversity, we might be considered by some to be an “inter-denominational” community. Our specific history and affiliation with a denomination is the Southern Baptist Convention, yet Hillside is not defined solely by denominational affiliation. See “beliefs” to learn more about how Hillside celebrates our diversity and functions with one another in love.
Is Hillside hiring staff?
We currently have a precedent of hiring from within the Hillside community, from those who have served in a volunteer capacity at Hillside and have demonstrated the characteristics of faithfulness, humility and gratitude; we hire based on character, not on talent or experience.
What is the vision and core values of Hillside?
We are a community of followers of Jesus Christ, committed to live by faith, to be known by love, and to be the voice of hope. Because of this, we desire to CONNECT people to the way of Jesus so HEALING can be experienced that we may LIVE as a community of faith expressing God’s kindness and love to the world.
What is House Church and how do I get plugged into one?
House Churches are what most call “small groups” and consist of 7-20 people. Each House Church is designed to plant more House Churches as they are all outward focused. Each House Church will invest time in study, dialogue, prayer, fellowship, and serving others.
The best way to get plugged into a house church is to visit our Gathering and we will connect you to one in your area. See “Community” for more information.
