The idea of the ily Cafe’ was birthed in a text message between two sisters, Kelly and Sonya.  As you can figure, “ily” is text message short for “I Love You”.  Because this idea was birthed within a community of faith, “ily” expresses a central thought of our faith.  That is, God loves you, and desires to love others through you.

And yes, they both have text messaging, so if you ever get a cup of java from “ily”. please send a thank you to either or both by simply texting, “ily 2”.  They appreciate and love that stuff.

In 1st century Jewish culture, to invite someone to sit at your table for a meal, meant that you were inviting that person to enter into a life-long relationship with you.  Jesus was accused of hanging with the wrong crowd when He would often share a table with a tax collector, or in more contemporary terms, “sinners”.  Jesus was known as, “...a friend of sinners.”

Hillside community is thankful for a table where sinners like us are invited to sit and share with a loving God... for life.

Come and bring a friend, relax and find that a table is waiting for you here.  No matter where you are, where you’ve been, what you have done or haven’t done, it is simply our desire to hang out with you.  It is also our desire that you be exactly who you are and not who other people think you should be.  Hillside is primarily a community of faith that strives to walk in freedom.  If this sounds like a community you would like to be a part of, then the “ily” Cafe’ is a great place to start visiting on Friday nights. 

Some events you may experience at the Cafe’ include, Open Mic Night, concerts, Movie Nights, Book Discussion and Reviews, Teaching and video series, and prank configuration (for your loved ones only).  Therefore, your experience at the Cafe’ will vary from one week to the next, yet every week will include coffee, good discussion, friends, and an open invitation to our table.
